See ya.

Mido, Bunje and Naybet are all leaving the club over the summer as and when their contracts finally expire. Naybet joined two years ago and played a good few games for us scoring against the scum in the process. I will always rememebr his debut in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool. He had a great game and it was the first time since Mabbutt played that I saw someone actually marshall a defence. Bunje was the Serbian Trevor Brooking when he arrived but never quite lived up to all the hype. A solid servent of the club he was never really good enough. Lastly Mido will not be bought by the club. Although he did his job well he did make our play often one dimensional - i.e. hoof it up from the back and hope for a flick on. This season he looked fit and sharp but then went to the African Nations cup and was never quite the same since. Everyone from The Shelf would like to wisht hem well for the future and I bet I'm not the only one who is a bit annoyed by the official site who managed to write less than a quarter that I have on three first team players leaving.

In other news Carlton Cole's signing is going to be announced tonight or tomorrow. This is from a reliable source on FTL.

Carlton cole to sign.

The lads at FTL and COYS have done it again with more great info. Carlton Cole is now a Spurs player according to top source "Naybet". It was thought it would be announced today but it now appears that Spurs will announce the capture over the weekend or on Monday.

How this relates to Jermaine Defoe is anyones guess. It has gone all quiet on this front as it was thought Liverpool were going to wrap up his signature by today. However, there appears to be nothing going on here at the moment with Defoe apparently wanting to stay at WHL but Spurs are ready to listen to offers. I think that if he is still a Spurs player by the time the World Cup starts then he will be a Spurs player at the start of the season.

Cole could be a good bit of business by Spurs as long as the fee is low. Jol rates him highly but he does not have a fantastic strike rate. However if you look at how Jol has brought on players like Carrick and Lennon then he will hopefully be able to get the best from Cole. He will be fourth choice at the club behind Berbatov, Keane and Defoe. If confirmed by the club, I expect Mido will be leaving when his loan period expires next month.

Defoe off to Scousers??

The message boards have gone wild tonight with rumors that Defoe has been given permission to speak to Liverpool and he is likely to complete a deal to the scousers by Friday. Often I take this type of info with a pinch of salt but as it has not only appeared on Glory Glory but very reliable posters have stuck the news up on COYS and FTL as well. Liverpool sites also claim this is now almost a done deal with only the fee in question with some saying 9 million, others 15 million.

If he does go i won't be surprised. Defoe is not known for club loyalty and his last set of performances, when he was supposed to fighting for an England place, showed a distinct lack of commitment to the cause. While clearly a capable player, one who does not want to play for the Lillywhites is not worth keeping as his value should be maximised. While Keane knuckled down and fought for his place, scoring 16 goals for the season, Defoe kept quiet but did not deliver on the pitch. While no one can doubt he is a good player but if he does not want to be here then sell him.

Berbatov is also signing tomorrow, apparently. Could be a busy week.

Spurs sabotaged.

So there it is - we finish fifth in what was still a great season, even though someone at the Marriot in Docklands sabotaged us at the death. The squad decimated by food poisioning never had the energy to fight a good West Ham side and although we went close the spammers nicked it at the end of the day. It wasn't sunday's performance that cost us fourth place though, it was the stupid dropped points at home to Villa, the scum, West Ham, Fulham away and Sunderland away. If we had been able to close down a game a bit better earlier on in the season we would have been out of sight of the scum long ago.

Never mind as this has still been a great season. We have qualified via the league for the UEFA cup for the first time since 1983, it is the first time we have not lost back to back games since 1950. We have scored more than we have conceded and won more than we have lost. We have our highest ever Premeirship finish and it sounds like Berbatov is on his way as a Mido replacement (On Glory Glory, COYS and FTL).

And finally we will find out exactly what happened with the food tomorrow or Wednesday and then it could get really interesting....

Wet Spam Vs. Tottenham Hotspur

The final day has come and we need to win.  We are one point above the scum and one win from securing fourth spot, our highest league finish since the mid 80s.  We are guaranteed European football whatever happens tomorrow, for the first time via the league since 1983.  We have not lost back to back games this season, the first time we have recorded such an event since 1950!  We have won more than we have lost.  This is clearly one of most succsseful seasons in the league for years and Jol has done a great job with another much changed team from the one that ended last year, but to make it a great season, instead of a good one, we have to win tomorrow.

With the goons playing their last ever game at The Library they are likely to win, with Wigan having nothing to play for.  West Ham have a cup final to look forward to so I hope their minds will be on something else to make our lives slightly easier.  However, Hammer fans don't really like us.  While we see the scum as out arch enemies (and for good reason) and maybe Chelski get on our nerves we have never really been all that bothered about Wet Spam.  The Hammers fans though seem to have some jealousy of our history, stadium, fan base (the list goes on) and will thus want to spoil our party.  Pardew is giving out mixed messages sometimes saying he will rest players, other time going on about hw he wants to beat us.  Arsehole Wenger (I did not see it TM) has also been sticking his nose in.

Whatever Wet Spam decide to do we have the squad, the manager and the desire to beat the Spammers.  We have injuries but have done very well in recent weeks.  Two months ago I wrote off our Champions League chances on here and I will be absolutly delighted if I'm proved wrong come 5pm tomorrow.  I'm hoping our young team will do what is necessary.

Robbo will start in goal with Dawson and Gardner in front.  After Newcastle these two have done extremly well and I hope it continues tomorrow.  Lee will be on the left and Kelly on the right.  In the middle we shall have Davids back alongside Carrick who I suspect will shake of an injury.  Lennon will be wide right and Tainio will feature as well.  Up front will be Defoe, who will hopefully perform up to a level we all know he is capable off and I think Barnard will be alongside him.  Keane has a slight chance of making it and I think Mido will make the bench.

Fingers crossed!
