Spurs vs. Liverpool

The Premiership is back after the farce of internationals stuck in just as we all get back into Spurs and their steady improvement.

Back at the Lane this Saturday Spurs take on the Champions of Europe, Liverpool. This statement is farcical really as though they did well in the final the question has to be asked why were they in the “Champions” League in the first place when they finished fourth? Nevertheless they will provide a tough test as they are a good unit with Gerrard pulling all the strings. With any luck he will play as well as he did for England on Wednesday.

What the Spurs line up is anyone’s guess yet again as we continue to buy anyone and everyone who is English, especially if they can play in midfield. What is obvious is that Paul Robinson will start in goal. Ledley King is likely to return as Captain alongside Dawson. Stalteri will be on the right and Lee will make his debut on the left. Mido is suspended for at least three games so Defoe will start up front with one other. It could be Keane as Rasiak has only just arrived and won’t know his teammates. Keane is also a much better player but we then have the dilemma of pumping balls forward to short strikers.

The midfield will be a complete mystery except that Carrick will be in there somewhere. Davids will probably be next to him with Reid on the left and either Lennon or Tainio on the right leaving £8 million signing Jermaine Jenas on the bench. Based on recent performances by the Spurs midfield I am really struggling to see where JJ will currently fit it but Jol’s the boss not me so we shall wait and see.

Will be a though one for sure. But I'm pretty confident that Spurs can get the 3 points ... if they can keep 11 men on the field ;)

I think you got the line up pretty right, but I wouldnt be surprised to see JJ starting on the right.

i think some of you guys are very wrong and saying that gardner will start as well as kelly and mendes is really quite funny and shows you dont really know who are the good footballers at the lane.

Its tough to see where JJ will play, he is a central midfielder...and unless, MJ is thinking of going 4-5-1 (sale of kanoute...purchase of JJ) then i see it being like this...

ROBBO

KELLY KING DAWSON LEE

LENNON DAVIDS CARRICK REID

DEFOE KEANE

but...if it is 4-5-1, which the purchases may suggest, then i think it will be as follows...

ROBBO

KELLY DAWSON KING LEE

CARRICK

DAVIDS JENAS

LENNON REID

DEFOE

either way, i reckon we can do them over....COME ON YOU SPURS!

jenas has been used behind the main striker in the past so a 451 is possible, however i think jol will probably play 442, with rasiak up front with defoe. tainio has had a good start to the season, so would be very unlucky to be dropped for jenas. it is nice to at last have a situation with a good fight for a 1st team place. cant wait for routledge to be fit again!!
if 451 jenas behind defoe, otherwise rasiak up front. feel sorry for robbie as he is class, but no room for 2 small strikers up front. would work tho if we kept the ball on the ground, playing to feet rather than launching the ball.

robbo
stalteri dawson king lee
carrick davids
tainio reid
jenas/rasiak
defoe
come on you spurs

JJ's purchase is going to be useful in those games like the 0-0 at Blackburn. I still wish we would have gotten 3 pts there.

We look a lot stronger these days, so we have absoutley nothing to fear from Liverpool nor any other club, including Arsenal.

We will beat Liverpool 2-0.

if gerrard plays like he did for england on wednesday, and jermaine penis plays like he has for the past 3 years at newcastle, there's only going to be one winner...

...and thats liverpool.

jol said ziegler went on loan cos there was competition in his position from davids and reid, i reckon davids will play on the the left of a narrow midfield with jenas and carrick in the centre with lennon or tainio on the right. keane will probably start with defoe cos rasak's new and not in the same league as keane so we wont be looking to cross with 2short strikers.

Robinson

Stalteri King Dawson Lee

Lennon/tainio car jen davids

defoe keane

funny how all of these liverpool 'fans' start spouting off about players who didnt join them...their big summer signing was a spurs reject! Remember the start of last season, with a much weaker squad (no daws, no davids, jenas, lee, reidy etc) we were more than a match for liverpool in a game they were happy to get a point from...we are a better team than liverpool, we just have to prove it now.
