"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Bill Nicholson. SPURS

Transfer news.

First of all Stephen Kelly is being offloaded to Birmingham. The option to extend his contract by a year was a good move as it means we will recieve a fee for the right back. Good luck to him from everyone at The Shelf.

And as one full back departs another arrives. Benoit Assou-Ekotto has arrived from RC Lens. Rumors that he was a signing in the Toda tradition to boost profits from names on the backs of shirts have been denied by the Spurs brass.

Comolli said:

“He’s regarded as one of the best prospects in French football and is an excellent signing for the Club.

“The player is ambitious and has always wanted to play in English football. He was consistent in his commitment to us in the negotiations we had with Lens despite a lot of interest from other clubs and Lens being reluctant to let him go.”

Sounds good.

COYS!

Hopefully that will mean that Lee can switch to right back and then we can flog Stalteri to some poor mugs. Although would be good to sign a new right back also.

It's Such s shame if we don't sign Gareth Barry and Lomano Lua-Lua...both are Spurs Fan...they will play their heart out for us and I always rate Lua-lua a better player than Defoe (at least Lua2 can scored with his head)....For heaven sake please sign them!! & get rid of Stalteri!!...anyone feel we're becoming like gooners? 2 french player in 2 days? hopefully we're not becoming a france U-21 squad

i'm more worried about the news that man united are after carrick. we really need to our best players from last season.i bet this french kid has cost a lot less than anyone over here. maybe just come in as cover. feel for kelly didnt really get much of a chance last season. but his not gone to a prem team so maybe that say's something!

I like Carrick but I've never been 100% persuaded by him. He lacks a certain presence on the field which someone playing in his position needs. I'd happily see him go for 14 mil or more and I think the England under 21 equivalent of Tom Huddleston would fill the gap with knobs on, hopefully in the space of one season. I really don't think we need the money or are a 'selling' club, so whatever happens with Carrick, I trust Jol knows exactly what he's doing.

Come on you England!

I think Carrick will stay, we want chimbonda, i know hes another frechy but you have to admit, he is top class, my cousin went to school with wayne bridge or 'Bridgey' as he cals him. anyway he says 'Bridgey' Is on his way to the lane to be finalised after the world cup. And matey last season that new left back played just as many games at left mid as he did at left back and even a couple at centre mid. I like the sound of him
