Why Spurs were right.

In my previous post I mentioned that I thought the whole process was a farce. I wish to clarify my comments. What Spurs got out of it was the best deal in the interests of the club. What was farcical was the "cloak and dagger" nature of it all that arises suspicious of who got what from the deal. Reading around the net, ITKs and papers it appears that Spurs did quite well out of it in the end with us receiving around £5 million for Frank Arnesen. Considering he is a man who wanted to leave it is not a bad bit of business. He was never going to work for the club again so we had to maximizee the potential for us. It is also believed that Chelsea have agreed to a deal that they cannot sign anyone from Spurs for the next two years along with Arnesen not being able to begin his work until September 1st. This protectss our interests and our present transfer policies from being interfered with by the Mafia. This is the likely reason for a confidentiality clause to save face for Chelsea. Also whatever figure we do receive will probably be never enough for some people so they want to keep it quiet.

Now I have also noticed that some supporters of other teams are not to happy as I expect they were rubbing their hands together at the thought of Chelsea losing points as this is probably the only way they can get near the title next year. Maybe Spurs should have taken the moral high ground but really this falls with the FA. We had to make the best of this deal and a 6 point deduction for Chelsea wouldn't have affected us too much to be honest. However it is there in the FA rules that they can investigate any matter they wish regardless of whether a club complains or not. This smoke screen put up by the FA saying that they could not act without us complaining was rubbish and was used by the FA to hide behind.

It is not up too a club to govern the laws of the land. We should uphold them but the actual enforcing of the laws should be down to the governing body - The FA. It is the FA who are weak and afraid of Chelsea in what in my opinion would be an open and shut case. The other Premiership clubs should be annoyed with the FA, not Spurs, as they can act without us making a complaint. They have chosen not to.

Also, with regard to Chelsea fans who claim their club is pure and innocent should consider this. If Cheslea were so sure of their innocence they would of happily gone to a FA tribunal and told us to sod off. The Mafia flying back from his holiday for emergency talks and offering us a substantial cash amount to stop us reporting them just goes to show how likely it was they would have been found guiltyy.

If the FA want to stop this happening again they need to use their own rules to investigate this matter further. However it is unlikely they ever will as they are weak.

COYS!

We can't complain, over £5 million for a wantaway is not a bad deal. After all The scum got nothing for the Cole fracas, so one up to the Spurs already. Also if it was left to the F.A. again all they would have got is a slapped wrist again and Spurs would have ended up with nothing. Now it's time to move on, well, until we meet in August.

i think that if we consider all of this, then what we end up with is a good day for spurs, how many other clubs are there that can get 5 million for a scout? i say well done to levy whos proving to be a very reliable chairman who seems to have moved the club in the right direction since he came in, im also pleased with the amount of players we're signing because it shows that the board are actually thinking about who can suit spurs for the future rather than a one season wonder. things are looking good but dont expect instant success as this frank arnesen business has proved that there will be setbacks but all an all, i think you would agree that spurrs are moving in the right direction....p.s frank arnesen loves the cock

Firstly can I say I agree with the retard comment, the retard he was on about is probably one of the many who slag the team off when they need the fans support the most. I don't agree with all the decisions made by the men at the top of Spurs but support them all the same.
Like others have said a points deduction does us no good unless the points say 6 were awarded to us for the two games we should play against them, as this would never happen then we had to strike a deal.
Spurs made one big mistake though, I think we should of made an offer for Parker and possibly Forsell, then we could have bargained the deal around what ever we agreed on what one or both players were worth.
If reports are right that Freddie and Keano are to leave then we need at least one striker. We almost certainly need a ball winning box to box goal scoring midfielder like Platt, Bryan Robson, Lampard, Van Bommel etc etc.
With this saga dragging on I feel it has hindered are exploits in the transfer market, we need to buy before all the decent players are either sold or sign new contracts.
We would never get the full value of Arnesen but at least we got something I guess between £5 and £10 million, and with us having something like 26 players aged 26 or under I think the futures bright... the futures "Blue & White"

No matter what happened, the truth will always be lost because the FA is as bent as David Dien.

Rumour has it that in the not to distant future some other london clubs are going to get burnt. I suggest Mr Levy holds on to his blackmail money. What goes round comes round losers.

The Times stated that it is £5m initially, rising to £10m, with the certain clauses. Plus, Chelscum are not allowed to sign a Spurs player for two years, and Arnesson cannot start until the 1st September, the day after the transfer window closes.

By accepting their dirty money we're just as bad as them. We had the chance to take the moral highground and report them. Now they know they can do whatever they want to any club in the league because they can simply buy them off. Its a disgrace and i'm ashamed that fans of OUR club are so nonchalent about selling our soul so cheaply. The message we sent out was 'break the rules as long as you pay up'. We've been financially secure for years. The money, we did NOT need. This was about priciples and we have just shown that we dont have any.

A sad day for Tottenham Hotspur football club

i would have like to see bridge and johnson at whl to be honest. not only are they good players but jol would get the best out of them. would also go with our policy of signing english players. however, think we should use this money wisely and buy what we need the most: a creative midfield leader. someone to boss play. maybe someone like rosicky? d'alessandro?

For everyone saying that we should have taken the moral high ground, where would that have gotten us? Ok, clubs like ManU and Arsenal would have loved us for giving them a jump on Chelski for next season, but do we really care about that?!?

Mr Levy ended up getting the best possible deal out of completely fucked up situation! I don't think the money is the best part either, a 2yr no-go clause for Spurs players has to be the best thing for the club. No more rumours of defoe/king/etc on their way West... By the time that's up Spurs will be playing alongside Chelski in the Champs League and so our stars won't want to leave anyway!

This way we can buy a new striker and finally tell Arnesen to get to fuck without it costing us anything except for the love of a few ManUre and Scum fans...

We actually should have quite a substantial sum of money to spend right now.

We started out, supposedly, with a transfer budget of ten million.

We got around 3 million for Simon Davies.

If either Keane, or Kanoute are sold they will fetch around 5 million.

In addition we have the money from Arnescum which is between 5-10 million.

Plus, I think we should think about maybe offloading Brown to Birmingham (2-3 million) seeing as we have Tanio, Mendes, Davis, Huddlestone, and we will definately be further strengthening in midfield.

I really hope, beg, plead, dream, that we can put together 2-3 signings that can really elevate the squad, with the money we have at our disposal.

Daniel Levy's doing a great job. He definately made some errors over the years with the way things have been handled, but, ever since taking this radical continental approach, I think he's won all sane minded spurs fans over.

All hail Mr Levy. Now get out there and buy the players we need so we can put a realistic challenge for europe and beyond next season.

I think we should all take our head out our arses over the amount of money secured. Thats a smoke screen. Frank the Plank is a contracted employee and there are rather different FA clauses surronding this kind of approach. We could have made it bloody difficult and cost them a fortune in legal fees, so they cut there loses. They have "their man". Feck him!

The protection over over young players is worth an absolute fortune. Outside of the Chelsea, who has the money to come in for Defoe, King or Robbo. No one. Man U will have nothing under Glazier and the Scum have never really been know to splash fortunes!(they only like Judas twats for nothing!)

Levy has shown a sensible, pragmatic approach to running a footbal club and that has to be admired, respected and saluted.

Spurs are building on youth and that has to be protected. He has done that, and some(I am sure he really took them to the cleaners. One lawyer was quoted as saying "one of Tottenham's clauses was outrageous")

Lets keep building, have some faith, patience and belief in Big Marty's ability and show what a great football team and club we are.

Lets stop moaning and support our team. Its a fecking good un!

(I think we should sign the Dutch fella. If we touch AJ, Crouch or Ashton Ill be gutted! We dont need any one season wonders when we have Barnard knocking them in for fun in the ressies!)

Oh great. So because reporting Chelsea would have benefitted A*senal and ManUSA we were right to sell out?

This is the reason why we continuosly underachieve, too busy looking down the seven sisters road at the scum. We've let ourselves get bullied by Chelsea. However much they have payed us is not going to affect them. They just know that with their bottomless pit off money they can buy off whoever they choose. I'm ashamed we took the money. Pathetic decision by the board.

Whoever is ashamed of accepting the cash from Chel$ki doesn't realise how good this would be for the club - and the rest of the Premier League clubs for that matter...

The Roman Empire may have been increased by one with the departure from my BELOVED Spurs of Turncoat Arnesen, but their hands have well and truly been smacked by the FA prior to this situation thanks to ColeGate. They can't afford (if you'll pardon the pun) to do too many of these shady deals in the future because someone at Soho Square will put an immediate transfer embargo on them - for players AND staff, plus the future docking of points for this sort of "tapping-up". Why do you think Roman came back to oversee negotiations personally? He doesn't want to risk any more trouble with the F.A. - not even he would be able to afford to stay with a club with a tarnished reputation.

Anyway, on to Mr Arnesen. He was on £600,000 a year, we've got anywhere between £5m and £10m for him, and he's not even a BLOODY PLAYER! This was very shrewd business by Mr Levy and the board, and I bave the utmost respect for him for sticking to his guns about this. He and the board could have dropped faster than Faria Alam's knickers at the thought of facing Roman's Legion of Lawyers, but he stood firm against them. Fair Play, Daniel...you're a hero to many!

How can we been looking down the Seven Sisters Road toward the Scum when we have a much stronger squad in the long term? With the imminent departure of Mido and Kanouté - and the possible arrival of Vennegoor of Hesselink - our front line seems to be intact, the midfield will undoubtedly be beefed up creatively and we sseem to have solved the previously dodgy are of the defence, so things are looking up for Spurs, not just on the field but also off it with a chairman and board who are not afraid to stand up to the big boys when it's needed.

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

It really is no suprise we get a reputation for moaning. My god.

We should stop thinking with our dicks!

Good luck Mr Levy. You have a very big set indeed!

Know I'm off on a bit of a tangent but... why are people so down on signing Ashton? I've seen a few posts on this and he's quality. Young too. If we can put together up a future England strike force [Ashton and Defoe] then where's the problem with that?

Was delighted when I saw us linked. Does somebody see something I don't???

It is ok waffling on about tradition etc. but like it or not, todays football is about finances. We have tradition, unlike our scum neighbours (are they still our neighbours, or have the pikeys moved again?), but the club needs to establish itself again and the only way of doing this in the current climate is to look at building on where we are at. To recieve £5-£10m for someone who's heart was obviously not in the club, someone we didn't pay a penny for (other than his £600k salary), someone who has put the club back on track, then that's good business. That aside, I have absolutely no time for this arsehole, he's in the ArSol Scumball league (although he's quite a few places below the Judas scum).

Looking o the future, I feel we have a lot to look forward to, so let's focus on that.

Up the Spurs!!!

About Dean Ashton...
Why the hell didn't we sign him when we had a bid accepted, Norwich pipped us and we got Mido, yes he looked good for one game but one swallow doesn't make a summer.
I've just read that Jol wants Javed Nekounam, i've never heard of him, but it saysd he's a box to box player. He is 24 got 66 caps already, 10 international goals. sounds promising.
I hope we try and use Robbie Keane as bait to Newcastle in prising JJ away from them to link up with Carrick, a future England pairing, soon we will have a backbone of the England team, Robo, King, Dawson (so bloody calm on the ball on his debut at Anfield) Huddlestone, Carrick, (poss Jenas) Routledge, Defoe, maybe Ashton
We will be in Europe next time round and 4 seasons from now we will be in Champs league for def.
The futures bright the futures Blue and White
