Transfer Window Opens. pens.

Yes, that great time of year is on us again. Hours watching Sky Sports News and the message boards especially as we approach January 31st only to be let down with a signing such as Rasiak.

That was of course the mistake we made at the end of the last window. Other targets were not available so we panic bought at the last minute. Sadly his signing does not look like he is going to inspire the team when top goal scorer Mido leaves us for 3 weeks or so for Africa.

A striker has to be the priority for this window. A left winger would also be nice with Andy Reid going to whoever wants him. There are now strong rumors that Theo Walcott will pick Spurs over the other clubs and who can blame him. You only have to think Sean Wright Phillips to say no to the Mafia. The Scum have brought 1 English player, Cole, through their ranks since Wenger has been the boss which leaves us. Carr, Judas and King have all come through in recent seasons not to mention Kelly and Ifil. We also have a great crop of English talent in the guise of Lennon, Routledge, Carrick and Jenas to name a few so Spurs would seem the sensible destination.

Striker wise the strong rumors are all pointing towards Italy. Make of that what you will but we need quality, not honest, cover for Mido not only now but maybe next season. There is no guarantee he will be staying come May.

COYS!

Frank Ribery is the most likely target since he is young (22), has good pace, is very tricky, and would cost less than 4 million... I hear rumours that we're in for the giant serbian striker Nikola Zigic. This guy is 6 ft 8 or something but hes meant to be pretty good on the floor aswell. He did really well in Europe this season.

Carr and Kelly are not English. They're Irish. Different country altogether last time I looked at the map.

So don't put them in your list of home-grown talent.

How about a couple players who have possibly been overlooked? Striker wise how about Eidur Gudjohnsen? or if we want someone with ability to play in a wide left role as well as up front in the absence of Mido, how about Lua Lua or Boa Morte? Just an idea and proven in the premiership.

for everyone who don't know about ziegler and how he is doing, he's playing the reserves for the club he's on loan to, and he has the occasional appearence, so next seasons either make or break for him. ribery would be a fantasitc buy, he's a real talent and caused england u21's all sorts of problems, but do you really think under £4m?? maybe but i think that would be a bargain for that price!

i can't see walcott coming to tottenham, if he does then that means either defoe or keane is off somewhere, would it make sence to have 3 fowards who all play the same way??? we all know jol likes a target man, so i can see a foward being signed in january, but no walcott, maybe a deal for the future with walcott, but nothin immediate!

coming down to it, i don't know if we need to sign anyone in january, left midfield tainio has been brilliant, and upfront, rasiak hasn't been that bad! im sure he wasn't a panik buy, he was brilliant last season for derby, he's a fantastic player! and he hasn't been given the chance to show what he can do, he scored on his debut for it to be dissalowed and has caused defences problems, give the boy a chance!

Morten Gamst Pedersen from blackburn would be a great buy for the left wing problem he's already prooven he can do the job at b'burn i've never seen zigic play but a 6"8 striker simular to koller mite be a good deal. cant see ribery or walcott choosing spurs but i'm as hopeful as anyone else. don't want larrson (he's past it) and if we can beat ARSEnal n Chelski to kuyt job done for champions league qualification... OUT - mendes, brown, naybet, davis, reid, pamarot, gardener and RASIAK!

We shud also give lee bernard a chance in the first team coz he scores every week for our reserves

reid jackson naybet pamerot davis brown mendes gardner bunji and rasiak all sold would give a extremly healthy transfer budget including the 10m or so we already have mayb around £25m all together easily enough for 2/3/4 great jan signings e.g kuyt pedersen vlaar zigic ribery and mayb walcott
has anybody else considered a move for FREDDY ADU in the coming year a much more interesting prospect than walcott from DC UNITED in america already this kid has been dubbed the new pelé or mayb even mexican giovanni dos santos from barca impressed massively in the u17's world championships a long shot though cant see him leaving

WALLCOTT- he is YOUNG, ENGLISH and has HUGE POTENTIAL and we are looking for YOUNG, ENGLISH players with HUGE POTENTIAL.... and spurs is built from YOUNG, ENGLISH players with huge potential.
The kid is 16, 16! Im sur he would put his social needs before money at such a young age which i why he may choose spurs over the larger clubs.

KUYT- Kuyt is DUTCH and that is the only reason why he would join us. We have a DUTCH LEGEND named EDGAR DAVIDS and a WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, LOVING, DUTCH MANAGER called MARTIN JOL who is quickly becoming a recognised manager.
Our dutch connections will hopefully persuade kuyt to join us.

Jol has been an amazing manager for Spurs. He has wiped away all the bad Santini memories.

I think Ribery might come in, and maybe Kuyt or Venegoor of Hesselink up front once we've got rid of the dead wood (Mendes, Rasiak etc). Rasiak is a good striker, but he's just not cut out for the Premiership.

Please get off Rasiak's back for at least until the end of the season. He's not Atouba.

Saw him played v WBA the other day and he obviously needs more than one game to get back to his effective best. All in all a very honest player, was always running into spaces during the match(albeit slightly off the pace) and I like his attitude on the pitch.

All the best to him.

what we need more than anything is a left winger presuming at some point when davids moves on carrick and jj take up the central midfield and lennon or routledge take up the rightside...downing is the one i reckon but giggs could be a cheap, effective option for a season or two but don't reckon man u will let him go now.

frank ribery has potential but whoever said freddy adu thats a good shout could be a fantastic signing for us .....

personally id like to see kuyt and pederson come in this month think it would be the icing on the cake for are squad but we seriously need to get rid of some of are midfield centre's E.G mendes (unhappy) brown (hasnt got the quality) davis (same as brown) and also get rid of reid he is fuckin shit and has appauling pace

if not pederson try for richardson on loan what you lot think ??

i think we bought in raziak someone who is happy to sit on the bench, which was a good move.all our strikers are scoring at the moment and there all happy, so why would we need to change it.maybe ribery and walcott would be the only players worth trying to buy.altough they both would be difficult i think it could happen.

Think everyone is being a bit quick to get rid of Brown, Davis AND Mendes. What happens when we get, say, two injuries in central midfield? Who replaces Davids, Tainio, JJ, or Carrick? By all means let one of them leave (probably Mendes because he definitely appears to have fallen out with Jol) but keep the other two - we WILL get injuries.

Like most, not convinced about Reid, though is he better as a central attacking midfield player? Would love to see MG Pedersen - real class.

Elsewhere. let's get Reto back to give Lee some serious competition, and Kuyt would be my choice up front (though Rasiak with just three starts can feel a little hard done by. After all, it took Crouch about three months to score and now he can't stop scoring!!)

COYS!!!

thing is if we have a proper left winger then davids will play in the middle so either jenas or carrick will be out so even if we sold brown davis and mendes we would still have 4 midfield centers which is enough!

8:54 PM, January 02, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

All the midfielders we have are good, bar mayb davs who needs to setttle in2 the team but should get rid of.
Mendes was good when he was in midfield last season, good passer and likes to get stuck in-someone we have not had. Brown tries and looked good last season- he never gives up and gives 100%. Take blackburn away last season! he was tremendous. But there are four better than these three so i can see why people are slaggng them off cos they havenmt been in the limelight and so people are just assuming that there crap?!?!
Kuyt is another flop that we would pay way over the top for. I dont rate him and the premiership is another leaghue compared to the dutch league! Someone who offers something differnt like crouch at liverpool or bent at charlton. I'd like to see a good central defender for cover, huddlestone hopefully. And kelly in the team, defender-mayb riggott, southgate? If we need a striker then someone like inzaghi of milan or vieri, collins john?-ideas

10:49 PM, January 02, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chris Sutton? John Hartson? Are you sure???? They are nowhere good enough to play in the premiership let alone for the mighty yids.

As for Joe Cole? you are living in a dreamworld; he is a class act playing regularly for the champions so likelihood of him being able to leave (and even if he did for tottenham)...ZERO.

As for Gudjohnsen he would be a fantastic signing for us! He was amazing today against the hammers but again the likelihood of us attaining his services is minimal.

I do think Jol will strengthen this month despite saying otherwise (obvious smokescreen) and i do feel we need another striker, especially with Mido's absence, Jol's preference for the little and large combination and Rasiak's shortcomings (although he has not been given a real chance). Kuyt would be ideal and has a great record this season (14 goals in 16 games) and has already stated his intention to join us after chatting with Edgar. He is a really exciting possibility.

I feel that there are many players that need to be sold in thetransfer window and agree with the general consensus of players prior mentioned although disagree with Naybet who will become a spurs coach at the end of the season. He provides valuable input to our current players with his wealth of knowledge.

We could do with a left sided midfielder and another central defender. Would love Downing and i think Giggs is a great shout, great experience and ability. Giggsy could be a possibility at the end of the season if we are ambitious enough ie. european qualification although i believe he will move abroad.

All in all i am a very happy spurs fan. We are in a great position and are definitely moving in the right direction. Jol is the best manager we have had for a long long time stretching a lot further back than the santini regime.

Well done MJ you are doing a great job keep up the good work in 06!!!

PS. Out with fatty Reid!!!!

i think we should try n free up the central midfield area. Mendes is quality tho. i do agree that brown is simply not good enough. How bout ashton from norwich think he could be good player for us or even cisse. Anybody thought about lua lua i think he's very under-rated as is boa morte both could play through the centre or on the left. what do we reckon for wednesday then 2-1 keane n jenas

10:57 PM, January 02, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

pedersen would be great i think we should have signed him instead of blackburn in the first place hammer of a left peg. kuyt probably wont join us just yet seems to be an ass. zigic i would love to see in a spurs shirt the guy is everything couch is and more cos he can win headers. mendes and davis to go mj seems to love brown. tony gardner is a liability unfortunatly. huddlestone could maybe be better given a run at the back. wayne bridge to come in, world cup year the boy needs games and lee cant defend. or cross but he does run alot and try hard. good 2nd choice

11:07 PM, January 02, 2006

I think we're all getting a little excited here. Whilst I would be almost sexually aroused at the sight of Freddy Adu in white and blue I'm not going to hold my breath. Also, from what I've heard in the news etc, we're not getting Walcott, which is a real shame as we could leave the left wing for the moment and gradually bring him into the team next season (assuming Saints demand him back on loan).

Players I beleive should go are two of our unnecessary CM's Mendes/Davis/Brown. Sadly, I feel Mendes is out, and I'd rather keep Brown than Davis. In Davis we may have another 'Sicknote' - he actually hasn't played many games.
We do need a Centreback, this Vlaar chap sounds handy, and it deems Pamarot AND Gardener may be on the way out, leaving us short. Reid can go in my opinion, and we sho;uld let Rasiak settle in. It seems plausible, and was mentioned by someone earlier, that he was brought in to warm the bench, and hopefully we'll only miss Mido for 4-5 games, in which surely Rasiak can't do that much damage.

Do we NEED anyone to be brought in? We seriously cannot conte plate signing a midfielder (other than Walcott) and we're already having trouble keeping 3 (4 counting Rasiak) strikers happy. Only need a defender if one leaves.

Those are my thoughts, aplogoes for the excessive length!!

Lots in lots out. but all we seem to do is buy buy buy. wqe don't really need many more players at all. ok, someone on the left, but really the other players are just filling up the reserve sheet!

no it does make me laugh, last year we bought reid and dawson. an everyone one was like, whoo the hell is dawson, and was far more interested in fat reidy! how different is that now. king and dawsom form one of the best centre back partnerships in the premiership and their english.

so by by ried, lkike you all say.

At present he has no one dplaying out on the left with the discipline to stay there. someone like Ziegler, Pedersen or Robben (hope above all hope) would stay left side allowing Lee to be the overlapping runner, and they'd beat people by working the channel together. Lee needs to work on that left peg crossing though, but that is why they train 5 days a week

out: rasiak, mendes, reid (fat boy) and davis
in: kuyt and pederson

All we need is a teemu tainio, a teemu tainio...
At number 1 there's tainio, at number 2 it's tainio...

I think the guy has been consistently excellent as exemplified by him performance against the goons and his eagerness to play on, bloodied as he was.

Reid WILL come good. he won us the game against pompey andwas doing well against boring, boring boro til his injury.

However, Ribéry would be an awesome signing. I live in france and the guy is making grown men go weak at the knees. He could finally be our replacement for Ginola!

In-

Walcott £7m (loan him back, hes a long term replacement for Keane)
Ashton £5m (Great talent, strong and fast, wants out of Norwich)
Pedersen or Downing £6-7m (best left wingers in the premiership - whichever is keenest to join)

Out-
Bunjevcevic - free
Mendes - £2m
Reid - £3-4m
Rasiak - £1-1.5m

With these players bought in, we wouldnt need to spend for quite a while

Firstly a striker is a must because of the lose of Mido. Rasiak hasn't been given a chance really but he doesn't mind being on the bench and we need real class to get a champions league spot, plus we dont know whether Mido will stay when his loans up. My choice would be Kuyt but with the interest of other teams others need to be thought of, maybe ashton or the big Serbian player (Cant remember his name)

Other positions needed are Left wing and central defender. Unlucky to miss out on Vlaar but we need someone that doesnt expect to play every game cos with the form that Dawsons been in and king when he's fit its unfair for them to be left out. Maybe another defender for the future would be good.

As for the left wing i would love to see Ribery but it may be difficult to beat man u to his signin and i dont think Pederson will leave Blackburn at the moment. maybe an improved bid for Downing would be an idea.

Downing- well overated, rather sign Ribery- absolute legend!!!

Outs
Bunji- useless plank
Reid- Too fat, loves whiskey
Rasiak- Don't get nervous Martin, absolute donkey
Brown- should of stayed in the championship
Davis- Unlucky, needs a fresh start
Gardner- Too clumsy, not Premiership standard
Mendes-Did well, hav signed better players
Defoe- unsettled, spoilt, overrated
shame but would cash in.

Ins
Ribery- may get pipped by united, chelski or dirty gooners
Theo- looks good, may not be worth 9 million
Kuyt- Would be awesome, proven goalscorer and likely to adapt to the premiership well

Prediction- clear dead wood, pick up a few bargains, get MR KUYT....

Watch out new sporting director may add a few young guns to add to the mix.

We keep talking about a left sided player why don't we just get back ziegler he was alright, and also we have just let another left sided player go on loan in Emil Hallfredsson, who was doing well in the reserves. What's the point in buying these players to send on loan and buying someone else to replace them it would make sense just to recall them when needed

Huddlestone loan to Wolves should not be renewed- can then provide the cover at centre back or centre mid.
This allows Mendes and Brown/Davis to go (altho' will miss Pedro - not quite sure what he has done wrong)
Bunje is great for the reserves and adding the necessary experience to the lads
Pamarot can go - kelly better option (and there's still Ifil)

So we come to left midfield and forward. If we could have got Pedersen a year ago that would have been great - now I think we should aim higher and Ribery could be the one.

Kuyt is the obvious answer up front - but think we may have to wait until end of season when we, and everyone else, will see how we've progressed - they will then want to join a progressive team under a great manager in MJ
