Bent medical tomorrow

Well placed sources on COYS believe that Bent will have his medical tomorrow (Saturday) and his signing will be confirmed on Sunday or Monday. It is well known now that Bent turned down nearly 80,000 a week to join a big club in Spurs than the two bob small time outfit from East London.

Levy, as usual, has been a tough negotiator and has bought the fee down from Charlton's original valuation of £17 million but Bent could still be our record signing. Charlton are resigned to the fact that Bent is going and wants to come to Spurs. All this has worked in our favor.

COYS!

The theory that our relentless pursuit of Bent is to replace Defoe looks all the more likely in recent months.

I'm a great fan of Defoe attributes (not his atitude) and his departure will be a lost.

Unlike Carrick, I hope Defoe conisder that the top 4 don't consider him a priority target.

His biggest chance is at one of he 2nd tier club but can he possibly enjoy any significant succcess with them ?

With Henry leaving Arsenal and Liverpool not having any luck in the transfer window os far, the prospect for us next season looks promising.

Villa and Newcastle are trying but will still be some distance from our overall strength.

All we need now is everybody; the rumuuored want away such as Berbatov and Dfoe to see that vision and we will get there.

If you have any remote clue about football and especially the Spurs you would know clearly that getting Bent is going to be yet again one of the shrewdest buys BMJ and the Board have done!!!! We are clearly limited by JD's abilities although he is an excellent goal mouth scorer but brings little else to his game or the team, ideal for the last 20 mins when we need that goal. However, combine JD with Bent and you have another great strike partnership, combine Bent with Keano or Berbi and we will without doubt have the strongest strike force in the EPL!!! Look at what Bent has achieved at the Valley just imagine what he could achieve at the Lane!! The future is very bright and trust the Management they clearly know what they are doing!!COYS!!

Maybe if we view this as Bent replacing Mido then it starts to make some sense. I don't see how Bent can be assured of regular 1st team football as Jol always favours the big man little man forward partnership.

has anyone stopped to think that maybe levy knows something we don't and berba is off up north. i don't think bent is a replacement for JD or Mido, he's for berbatov. i don't think he'll leave before the start of the season, but january is a real possibility if we aren't at least 4th and playing well during that time.

I don't get This.According to assorted blogs & newspapers Bent's signing means that Mido, Defoe & Berbs are all off ...!!! Somehow the arithmetic doesn't add up.So perhaps it's just a case of Bent in Mido out ?? I for one hope Defoe stays & see no reason why Spurs should even consider selling Berbs yet.

This has nothing to do with the above story. My name's Andy, I support Spurs and I live in Italy. The Italian media are reporting the Christian Vieri has agreed a 1-year deal with Tottenham, with an option for a second year.
You could have knocked me down with a feather when I heard it on the news yesterday and again this morning(not a dodgy website, on the news on a national tv channel) ... I quickly took a look at the official site and then newsnow on the web, and nothing. The Italians are reporting it as fact though. Very strange ... personally I think it would be a step back, he's old and injury-prone, and probably looking for one last payday....but it's wierd that there's nothing about it on the UK news, and here they're saying it's official.....

when looking at a players value as the above said ,
henry 16 mil
bent 16 mil

what you have to look at is the wages aswell
henry 150,000 a week
bent 30,000 a week

henry 30 years old
bent 23 years old

i think i know who i would have and it is bent
so look to the future of a up and coming player not a price tag.

i beleive he has been bought because he's young and english, Also it is a distinct possibility that berbatov may leave an the next year or so. Bent is our insurance against this happening.

I'm only posting because I read some drivel in the top comment.

Defoes attitude has been exemplary. Not once in the last two years has he been outspoken or not wanted to do his best for the team, even though I concede his style of play may exude this impression in comparison to the all singing all dancing Robbie Keane. I would be sad to see Jermain go; he is still a player with bags of potential, and I feel is certainly no worse a player than Darren Bent.

bent will be a great signing, hes young, pacey, good in the air, decent vision, hardworking, great teamwork, excellent finisher. at his young age hes proved himself in the premiership and has always been the star player at a struggling club, at spurs his game is just going to get better and better. i dont want him to but considering berbatov may want to quit next season if we dont qualify for champions league, we can get over 25mill for berbatov, so 16mill for bent i believe is a good investment. sell mido, bring in bent, KEEEP defoe along with keano and berbzz, strike force=LETHAL B POWWWW
