Bassong done

Ignore what the rest are saying - Bassong is apparently a done deal according to Spurs Community and will be announced next week. Bassong, would I assume, be back up to King and Woodgate and is probably the best of a bad lot from Newcastle.

More scarily, tight wad Levy thinks we can do some cut price deals with his mate Ashley and bring in a few more of the Newcastle dross, Nolan amongst them. Why we would want to bring in anymore rubbish from Newcastle is beyond me. They went down because they were dreadful and buying a bucket load of championship players is not going to see us push on for 6 place - which is all we can probably hope for now Citeh have financial muscle. It is all rather depressing and why Levy needs to hurry up and find someone willing to invest decent cash in the team.

Interesting if the Bassong deal is actually true... that must mean that Dervitte is on his way out... shame, as I really rated the youngster.

As for anyone else at Newcastle... I agree, they are not of the quality we need.

tosser! if it were all about money they we wouldn't have had the hopes and dreams over the last few years of breaking into the top 4 as because of CL monies they all have more than us. Just because citeh suddenly are splashing the cash doesn't mean they are guaranteed to beat up. Haven't we beat Chelscum, Liverpool, etc in the last few years. Our problem is consistency against the lower teams rather than performance against the big teams, therefore unless every team but us in the league is some Arab play toy, I don't see why we cannot compete. Just because they have the money to buy Eto doesn't mean they will succeed. Lets face it Robinho went from one of the world's best players to someone most teams weren't too worried about! Eto may be exactly the same! New season - different challenges, but money is not everything!!!!!!

We need to keep all our squad and stop playing strangers .Everton finished ahead of spurs with less money spent and a load of injurys.Lets stop this buying and selling to our rivals and making them stronger wont help all the players we sold to other teams beat us .Sell abroad or keep our squad together and with a better start we can give it a go because city will be strangers for a while .

Personally I think if we can pick up some bargains at the "Barcodes Bring and Buy Sale" then that's good. Their team has some very good players in it and if we can strengthen our squad on the back of it then I'm all for it. They may not be the type of players we want playing week in week out but when the injuries come we will need a decent squad of players with premiership experience.

I agree with leerocker. Newcastle do have a few decent players, and I for one, would definitely go for Martins along with Bassong who I also rate highly.

I agree with David Smith. We seem to have a pretty reasonable team now; add one or two but dont go mad - this is our usual mistake. We need to keep a balanced squad with two or three new players each season, dare I say it, like Manu U.
I dont have any idea who we should buy thouh - if pushed buy top quality but fewer players. I would be tempted to sign Owen; hes class.

"Done" Hahaha! Is this "done" in the same way that Cisse was "done" a few weeks back? Believe it when he's wearing the shirt - not before!

Interesting that when all news sources are saying the deal is dead, you say it is is done...

Is this a prophetic article or a pathetic article? I'll got for the latter, mostly because we have consistently outspent arsenal and liverpool over the last few seasons.

It's the players bought in that are the problem. This article is very light on facts!

I think as all good teams do we continue to try and strenghten our team.A team that stays the same will at some time fall behind the others.Having said that i think Arry was right we are or were three players short to compete but these must be in areas were we need them.A centre half ,a hard midfielder and a better striker.

Hilarious!!! Spurts fans bang on about how much bigger and better than Newcastle were, yet that grubby little Uncle Fester lookalike can't wait to buy their "best" players.
Another season of mid table mediocraty looms. Love it!!

Milner maybe as an option if the price was right. I like Jonas as a box 2 box runner, but again a squad player. Spurs are the 10th biggest club in the world and in fan terms; top 4 supported.
(Deloitte Touche report)

Toon have brilliant support in their small area, but wordwide they are even worse supported than Chavski.

Spurs fans; please leave the Geordies alone. They are great supporters (unlike some of the big 4 fans) and they have been badly let down by their club and chairman. Good luck in the Championship.
