Pathetic defending cost Spurs home tie but good news around the corner.

I'm not going to delve into the game in too much detail as it is too depressing to throw away a two goal lead once again to lose a match 3-2. Even worse, it was to Championship opposition.

We had two main problems yesterday. The inability to defend with Kelly and Gardner being particularly bad and Rasiak proving that he is a useless piece of crap. If he put some effort in then it would not be so bad but he lacks pace and almost refused to jump for any high ball. Whichever scout thought they saw potential in him should be shot as far as I am concerned and he should never pull on the shirt of Tottenham Hotspur ever again if he is not going to give 100% in every game.

However, there is some good news as MattJB, a credible source of information over at COYS suggests a signing soon to cheer as all up as well as some of the rubbish being shipped on pretty soon as well.

Dead right about Rasiak and the Scout! Derby must be laughing there head off because we paid 2 million for a lazy son of a B*****. MJ should have taken him off and play 4-5-1 with Tanio when it was 2-2. I was angry at MJ for keeping him on the pitch, I couldn't believe it. Let's hope we buy a decent player this time..

Kelly isn't a left back. We should get cover for YP Lee.

Gardener has never been good enough.

Brown is 1st Division.

And Rasiak was just awful. No where near good enough.

I hope we sign Walcott & Iaquinta.

Raisak was rubbish yes. But when we're without Mido, we have to make do and hope he gains in confidence. Again, yes, he was crap, but an attitude like yours saying that he should be turfed after one full game is ridiculous! Yes, we need better cover than him but Jol has said there will be nothing major happening in the Jan window so get behind the lanky Pole and give him a chance!

RE: Gardner, he worked hard but struggled with the physicality of the De Vries chap.

As for Kelly. Transfer request? Good bye and good riddance.

The reason there was so much pressure on the defence was that Rasiak, who is without doubt the worst player to pull on a Spurs shirt since Stuart Nethercott, was unable to hold the ball up in their half. Every time the ball went towards Rasiak it came back immediately, usually without him touching it. If an adequate replacement is not obtained for Mido during the African Nations then all the good work will be undone and the Goonshite will pass us in the League. Alternatively play Defoe with Keane as surely that is better than any permutation with Rasiak.

In addition unfortunately i have to say that Gardener is a liability!

I totally agree that Gardner and Rasiak were awful last night. Rasiak did not win one header from what I can remember. Strange considering how tall he is. He did nothing all game. We might as well have played with ten men. I pray that we sign someone as cover for Mido when he goes to the African Nations cup. And as for Gardner, I thought he had a good game against Man City, so my confidence in him was raised only for him to play as badly as he did yesterday. He was completely the opposite to Dawson who battles for everything. Gardner's positional sence at times is bad, and he is far too casual with his play. God help us against Liverpool.

Ok *Cracks Knuckles*

Kelly - Played out of position, but thats no excuse. Bags of talent, but played with no confidence or concentration last night - must do better when given an opportunity to perform or bye bye. He should either be at right back, with Stalteri at Left back (As he can play left or right apparently) OR Pamarot at RB instead of Kelly.

Brown - Always a hard worker, and had a couple of decent attempts on goal. Spoke volumes for him that we didn't miss Davids too much against Man City if anyone remembers that far back? 100%'ers are hard players to come by. Keep him if he's happy to fight for his place.

Rasiak - No doubt he had an absolute nightmare last night. Defoe should start with Keane as they are 2 very intelligent players who can adapt. Keane is capable of heading/holding up the play when needed, and besides, no-one needs to HOOF it upfield all the time. Whatever happened to neat one-two's??? Please note everyone Keane beat a couple of defenders with a header for the opening goal...

Gardner - Showed more confidence, but the talent as a defender is sadly lacking. Note to coaching staff, when King is absent, play either Naybet or Pamarot in the centre. It amazes me Naybet wasn't first to come in when King was injured as he is the perfect replacement.

We can carry on blaming the players, and yes Kelly, Gardner and Rasiak were bad, but really Jol must start to take the blame. After yesterday, everyone can see that if you a mediocre team, all you have to do to beat Spurs is close down the mid-field (West Brom, Leicester and the Laegue Cup exit). Jol has not coached the mid-field in playing together as a unit, other than passing to Carrick, and Carrick square to full-backs or Central Defenders. Once he is put under pressure, the whole plan fails.
Also, yesterday when we needed mid-field players to get a grip, Jol took off Brown who was at least trying to get stuck-in and replaces him with DeFoe, and needless to say he was totally ineffective as usual, and we lost even more control as Robbie Keane will never make a mid-field player.
We had ome match winner on the pitch, Aaron Lennon, but we only gave him the ball 2 or 3 times, and to be fair, as we have absolutely no-one who can head a ball, even when the great Mido is playing, you have to question whether it is worth Lennon wasting his time with us.
For me, Jol must accept a large share of the blame. He has not coached the strikers how to play as unit (even when we have Mido we never really look like crafting a goal by good positional play or inter-play between the strilkers)and really all we saw yesterday was what we have seen in the League over the year....we do not play as a team and the individuals with few exceptions are not good enough to get results on their own.
Yes we are 4th at the moment, but unless Jol can show that he knows how to coach we will not stay anywhere near that position....my prediction remains 9th.

Gardner is getting a lot of stick which i think is, in part, unfair. I acknowledge he didnt have a great game yesterday but neither did Daws or Kelly. I believe his calmness and assuredness is often mistaken for lazyness or some other negative trait. I believe that his calmness is an attribute as is his confidence that he can deal with the ball at his feet. Compare this to Dawson's no nonsense approach which led to him conceding the corner which led to west spam's equaliser. I think daws and Gardner have similar potential and also Gardner has contributed more to our cause that Dawson (since he has played more games)they could both turn out to be top class, rather than decent premiership players which they currently are.

I for one think it would be a waste to sell him for 2 mill, we would definately regret tat down the line.

Got to agree with the comments

Kelly - poor nor come on let him go

Davis - looked good for fulham but back up at best & injury prone

Mendes - always looks ok but won't get in the side so again backup, he can go if he wants

Brown - see Mendes (we only need to keep 1 of the 3 mids & as Brown seems happiest in a res. role i'd keep him, also he can get stuck in if needed)

& then Rasiak & Gardener - oh my god, I read on one of these sites recently that Big Tony Gardener was ok as a back up "NO". He's always had the attributes (Pace, Size etc) but he can't jump or head the ball, he's not that bulky & gets shoved around, oh and he can't defend for sh*t! He looses concentration and I've seen him staring at the sky mind wandering away someplace else!
I agree should be shot any one up for chipping in for a hit man?
& Finally the big Pole - Rubbish!
nuff said on that get rid to WOlves if they've offered 1.5m or any amount really
Surely Defoe (even though he's playing Arse & has done pretty much since signing his new contract early last year) is better with Keane no matter how small, Rasiak is only there to hold the ball up if he can't do that he offers nothing else, we would have been better trying Big Tony up there (anything to keep him away from our goal!)

We need a big striker quickly & possibly a left back (for cover) & a left winger would also be nice.

Yes we can and should blame Jol - but the players brought in didn't respond to the call to perform on the night.
The one thing you can rely on with big old Martin is... when we have a bad performance or lose...he sorts it out by next game. We should play well against Liverpool, as they struggled against Luton. No room for complacency but Jol has a habit of whipping the squad into shape after a bit of a downer - plus the players have a bit to prove now!

IS EVERYBODY GOING BLIND ????

What is this RASIAK doing in the Spurs team ???

At the Leicester game he was running slowly around like he was in a social game.
He lack the ability to position himself on the pitch.
He never got ball contact to long balls from our defence, the Leicester defenders who had an easy job covering him, won the ball all the time.
His service to the other players was shocking.
His technical ability is also very poor.
Even his attempts on goal was a joke.

If Jol is using him again it will ruin our season.

PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL A GREAT LOOKING SEASON

Kelly also looked more than rusty. Maybe because he was on the left, as he is a right back, but he really looked without any motivation.

Spurs is in big trouble as long as RASIAK is on the team sheet.

If Charlton want Gardner someone should drive him over right now. £2m for him! if we get away with not paying him anymore wages I would settle for that. I can't think of one good thing about him and to be honest never understood the 'highly rated' tag he is always given.

Exactly the same for Kelly I hope MJ had a word in the dressing room and explained he will never play for Spurs again.

Rasiak. After WBA I thought give him a real chance and he produces this.

I am fed up of being let down by these players who are simply not interested. Its the fans who have to take the crap at work cause their team have had their pants pulled down on national TV.

Another thing if MJ knows how the Spurs play football why are we a long ball team? You don't need a big man little man combo playing on the deck.

We are all hurt by yesterday's performance and it's only natural that we should look for reasons. Gardner and Kelly never fill me with any confidence and they would not have played had it not been for our injuries. They are not, and never will be, premiership material and the sooner we get rid of them the better. MJ has got it right in their case but I am afraid I cannot say the same regarding Pedro Mendes. How MJ's mind works is a mystery to me; most supporters will definitely agree that he is so much better than Brown who is a waste of space. He cannot control the ball, he does not make a decent pass with the ball but he does run around like a headless chicken. Poor Rasiak did not win a single header during the whole match and like the gentleman who posted a comment before me I would like to know who was responsible for his acquisition. I seem to recall that MJ has said that he will score goals - I am sure he was having a laugh at our expense. By all means blame the players for yesterday's defeat but MJ must shoulder some of the responsibility.

I like the man but he is guilty of favouritism.

I was at the game yesterday - my girlfriend's family are Leicester season ticket holders so I thought I'd take advantage and go and watch us beat them. You have no idea what it was like sitting with the Leicester fans, pretending to cheer their winning goal. Oh dear. All Gardner did all night was jump up and down behind DeVries - who - I have to say is usually Leicester's worst player. As for Kelly, I didn't even realise he was playing until I read comments on this forum! Rasiak, well, whenever he jumped for the ball, and that wasn't often, he was about three feet away from where it eventually landed. And that's being very generous. I would have taken him off after 2 minutes... Play this team again and we forget the Champion's league, or any more points at all for that matter! Whinge moan, whinge.

Yes, shite perfomance, we got what we deserved but don't always default to the same scapegoats. Brown HAS played well this season in his limited opportunities, Kelly can't really be judged on his one (?) outing this year so far. Rasiak, ok - not Prem quality but we all (Jol inc) knew that when we signed him. Gardner remains an enigma : remember his excellent performance v Henry a couple of seasons back yet doesn't seem to have the power required. We needed a steadying influence (King, Davids) and were found wanting - Naybet would have been ideal last night.

Let it go now - we can't change anything. All our rivals for Europe have busy schedules : we can become Zen like and focus single pointedly on our Champions League spot. Let's get behond them - the run-in starts here...

Why are people are excusing Kelly for being a RB played at LB?! Christ, like it makes any difference?! It would make no difference to his thoughtless back header which almost gave em a goal in the first minutes, nor as to whether he should have challenged for the header which did give em a goal, nor whether he should have taken the one-on-one.

No no no. Poor effort from a guy who may have handed in his transer request and didn't seem bothered about the club any more.

Another one who was at the game last night.

Right along side the Leicester City fans who were totally subdued at 2 - 0 down. Boy, were we repaid in spades!!

Up till now I'd always wanted to give Rasiak a chance. I thought that if it took Peter Crouch god know how many games to break his duck then surely Rasiak deserves a chance. You know what - I was wrong. A poor first touch, weak in the air, worse than that, seemed half hearted at times, as though he knows he's on the way out.

Still not sure about Gardner. When he plays well, he looks ok. But last night he looked like Bambi on ice. Think someone else said it - let's get Huddlestone back. If it took Dawson no more than half a dozen games to establish himself then maybe Huddlestone the same.

Harsh on Kelly - first full game of the season? Mind you, his chance on goal showed as much. As for Brown - lay off! He's not our most talented but he's not our worst and I've never seen him give less than 100%.

The one bright spot - Aaron Lennon. The future!!

I was dissapointed Jol didn't make the tactical adjustment when Leiceste brought on Elvis in the 1st half.

Moreover, I suspect that the reason we played long balls to Rasiak all night was because the awful pitch wouldn't allow us to play 1-2's along the ground.

Having said that... Rasiak was dissapointing, mostly because he didn't put himself about and showed no passion or desire, which is inexcusable in an FA Cup match and when you're fighting for your place in the team.

Kelly too seemed largely dissinerested, which is perhaps to be expected from a player who has asked for a transfer out (and was playing out of position in what may be his last game for Spurs).

Tony G was trying, but doesn't have the understanding with Dawson that Ledley has. I think he needs a change of scenery to jumpstart his flagging career... besides, it's time to give Huddlestone a real chance.

Brown tries to get stuck in like Davids, which is why he played over Mendes, whose style is too similar to Carrick for the two to play together in the same midfield. Brownie is still here because he is a good squad player, never whinges and is popular with the other lads.

Like many others I'd like to see Rasiak, Kelly, Tony, Bunji, et al depart, with a left winger, left back, and striker brought in asap to salvage the season.

Ok heres what I think

Kelly - was out of position and he’s been out of the team all season, I saw every game last year and he was playing great, even got a few goals towards the end of the season.

Gardner - Can’t really disagree with what you say, he’s just not good enough, has no confidence at all, every time he gets the ball he panics. Get Huddlestone back, perfect cover for Daws or King

Brown - Can play great, but a squad player, if we have a problem on the left side we don’t need to buy anyone, get Ziegler back he played well last season, he can play either in mid or at the back so cover for Lee too, don’t even think he’s playing in Germany.

Rasiak - So far he’s been crap, but we have hardly given him a chance, he used to get loads of goals at Derby, unfortunately we cant risk waiting for him to learn how to play in the big league, Vieri on loan would be perfect.

there seem to be lots of bits of transfer gossip around, with some of the more credible pieces making sense if you put the bits together.

Walcott turned down Chelsea and will sign. Spurs will pay £3m for Walcott with Rasiak thrown in as part of the deal. This figure goes up to at least £8.5 million based on appearances, caps, etc. Saints will keep Walcott til the end of the season If Reading come up then he will be loaned to them as he lives in Newbury and will then get prem exposure without having to leave home at 16. All being lined up supposedly.
Corradi will come on a loan move until the end of the Year when Spurs have lined up someone who has been discussed recently. Kuyt?

The Vlaar experience left Levy and Jol p****d off so they are keeping everything close to their chest.

Like I said at the start though, possibly all just gossip.

I dispair!!! Kelly has not had a regular place all season and when he does play he plays like a Rymans league player. Rasiak was a shower of sh#t all night. He couldn't head the ball, couldn't pass to a Spurs player and has already been pointed out we would have been better playing with 10 men! My main criticim is for that lanky streak of pi#s Gardner. He is so f#cking crap it is unbelievable!!! Why have we not sold him in seasons gone by. He has never played a good game and in a strange way is much like Phil Neville in the sense that you know at some point in the game he will c#ck up and give a goal to the opposition. Come on MJ sell the crap and get Huddlestone back as cover. Pass the ball the Spurs way and play Defoe and Keen together for half a dozen games and let them thrive!!!

Gardner's weaknesses are his inability to cope with strong, physical strikers who knock him all over the place and a tendency to get caught in possession or. as against WBA, just giving them the ball in exposed positions. Kelly's performance was truly poor and he was badly at fault for the first goal. Rasiak did win one header in the second half and put another way over the bar. And that was it.

Why do you think MJ has loaned out Hud & Ziegler instead of making them 2nd choice in the big squad? Hud can cover for CB & CM, while Reto can cover LB & LM. That would allow the departures of quite a few extras who are evidently not up to doing the job at the present moment.

I see you all blame Brown, Kelly, Gardner and useless Rasiak. And yes, they did horrible yesterday.. But none of you have noticed that Stalteri is just pure shite. 9 out of 10 times he gives the opponent the ball and sometimes the 10th time aswell. He can't tackle, he often defends the left goalpost( he should be on the right side..) and he rarely manage to win anything in the air. In my opinion the only thing he is capable of, is running up and down the right wing.He should be kicked out of the club no later than tomorrow..
I don't care if he scored a fantastic goal,he is still a horrible player..

Has anyone stopped to think about what was going on with the referee and the blatant fouling by DeVries. Why is it that Mido and to a lesser extent Rasiak are pulled up for the type of thing that DeVries was getting away with all night? Our defenders get penalised (Dawson v Sunderland a prime example)but completely different attitude up the other end with our forwards. Personally I thought Gardner was coping to the best of his ability given that the midfield allowed Leicester all the time in the world to lump the ball into the box. Law of averages dictates that one is going to pay off. Kelly had plenty of opportunity to deal with attack that lead to first goal and the defending at the corner for the second was woeful. Where was Brown going when the ball came to Hughes?

Yes yes Raziak - GOONER, Gardener - GOONER, both absolute PONY no doubt!
I'm sure, with a few more games, Kelly and Brown can do a job at The Lilly Whites. Let's not forget though, we were without the ever-young Davids in the side, but we still need a bit of steel in midfield (Brown). Carrick and Jenas aren't exactly the fiercest of tacklers in our squad. And boy do we miss DEDLEY LEDLEY ! ~ Bring back some of these players we spent ££££'s on and get them into the squad ( Davenport, Huddlestone )

On the contrary, Carrick is a fine tackler. He doesn't use brute (like Davids or the plucky Brown), but rather his longs legs to win balls, before spraying his lazer-like passes around. But where was he last night...missing, as he's want to do from time to time. Jol will never sub him though. Indeed, perhaps it was Carrick (or Jenas) who should have made way for Tainio (much earlier methinks) instead of Lennon and Brown coming off????

Would everyone agree that it is evident JOL does NOT rate the following players?
Mendes, Naybet, Reid, Rasiak, Kelly, and to a lesser extent, Davis. Also he doesn't feel Huddlestone and Ziegler are ready for the big show it appears. He let Edman go, but kept Pamarot... not sure quite why though (hey, that rhymes!)

All our early season hopes un done in the same usual way.
Where were our so called stars. Carrick,, Jenas .. Rasiak... Gardner.. Robnson... Kelly.
They were all shit and the rest were ordinary except Lennon.
Leicester were poor but were still too good for our lot.
And why do our fans spend the whole fuckin game singing the same old garbage songs about the arse.
Do we have to show them that we are totally obsessed with them ??.

They dont give a shit about us and on tonights performnace they have got no reason to .
Most of you lot are gettin too excited about our league position. In recent weeks we have been only adequate , struggling to beat a shit Birmingham and a garbage Man C

There's seems to be a pattern emerging here... and to be honest, after I watched the game I was furious like most of you are now. I was cursing Rasiak, Gardener, Kelly etc. but Ive been thinking about it all day and I'd say I've calmed down enough to comment;

We werent good, thats for sure. We were lazy, we were trying to play our prefered style even when we couldnt. Our ability to adapt to suit the game was non existent. However, some of you might not want to hear this but, Leicester deserve a bit of credit. They changed their game in the second half, pressured our players, made them pay for mistakes and they could see we were being lazy. I realise we should have stepped up the game, changed formation maybe, taken rasiak off, got Tainio or Defoe on instead, but we didnt and we got beat. But I'm starting to get really fed up with all the Spurs fans that come in here putting down players so badly. All the team was bad last night with the exception of Lennon and Stalteri who I felt worked their arses off so I dont think any player can be judged fairly on that performance. Gardener does look lazy when he plays but he has put in many good performances for us, Kelly has done the same plus he played out of position. Brown was also out of position and he at least tried to make it work. Rasiak, I know he's getting shite loads of stick and probably this is more than justified, but I feel he has the same problem as Defoe at the moment - they are too eager to impress and by doing so they play selfishly or irrationally and then this kicks their confidence more. Its a nasty cycle which is unfair. Rasiak is a good player. Ive seen him when he's good and he looks sharp and I know its daring of me to say it but Ive seen him play better than Mido. He has had a tough time since he's joined us. Im not making excuses for the game the other night, but Im getting really pissed off with all this damning talk that goes on in these forums. Grow up and SUPPORT your team. If a player plays badly, leave supporting messages on these forums. You never know... they might read all these forums and see this spiteful talk and that makes their confidence sink further. Act like your the best fans in the Premiership. Lets cheers all our players, no matter who, out onto the pitch on Saturday. Cheer on the players who are playing badly and see what difference it makes? Is that such a stupid suggestion?

12:01 AM, January 10, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Final word, Rasiak is stupidly shit, should not be defended... he should be fired and shot in the face. I was a little sad to read that Kelly had handed in a transfer request.... watched him play.... now I'm happy he is going... Kelly please fuck off! Gardner is, and has always been shit, we should have called back Huddlestone and used him as cover for King... Gardner please fuck off. Brown is, and has always been shit, he may have the odd decent game but if we are serious about europe we can't have players like him in our squad.... Brown please fuck off. Mendes and Davis are good back-up players and should both be kept, its players like those two who could be dropped into stupid away cup ties against shit Championship sides and actually put in a solid performance and get a positive result. I'm not a huge fan of Keane and still think Defoe should be ahead of him, but I'm not about to say we should get rid of Robbie, we need to keep our three main strikers and sign another quality forward to compete with Mido (who still isn't a Spurs player... remember that, since Roma have off-loaded their top striker to Real he could get a look in again... his perfomances for us may have turned a few heads back in Italy). I would be lying if I said I don't care about the FA cup, however a top four finish in the league will make me forget about all this current bullshit.... oh and an away win at Liverpool too please! You owe it us after that performance Spurs!

Finally, Rasiak is fucking shit, should be KILLED, any takers.... lol! Jol needs to take that bad, BAD transfer on the chin, release him and buy someone else... anyone else... heck I don't care if he decides not to buy just get rid of Rasiak!

I dont agree with any of that "12:09 AM, January 10, 2006". Isnt it funny how everyone wants players that havent played in ages to replace the ones that do play, and judging by the way the lot of you think, if they played and played badly, you'd want them sold too! We'd go from having the largest squad in the Prem to smallest! I agree with the guy who said that Crouch was shit but he got loads of support and he's come good and scored a basket load. I dont rate him personally but he has started to score goals! Why dont we just get behind our players? Why is that so hard for some of you to do? Maybe we should sell you damning fans! Hows that sound? I hear Chelski are short of fans, maybe they'd like fans that put all their players down. They've got Essien there! Hes shit the whole time so you can bitch about him lots.

I agree but that 100% should be given but still... the rotation has been bad and players are not match fit after they have been dropped for weeks. Defoe for example! Its been said SO many times now but Huddlestone needs to be getting Premiership experience, and should be learning from Davids. Without this he is missing out on valuable opportunities. IS EVERYBODY AT TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS FC GOING BLIND ????

What is this RASIAK doing in the Spurs team ???

At the Leicester game he was running slowly around like he was in a social game.
He lack the ability to position himself on the pitch.
He never got ball contact to long balls from our defence, the Leicester defenders who had an easy job covering him, won the ball all the time.
His service to the other players was shocking.
His technical ability is also very poor.
Even his attempts on goal was a joke.
Rasiak lacks both ability and desire.

Martin Jol must be told NEVER to use Rasiak again in the Spurs team.

Imagine that comments like those after last your game are normal thing on polish internet websites. Even when Rasiak is not playing. Everyday hundreds of "Rasiak-jokes" are there. We football-fans are not blind and we can clearly see that he lacks of everything what's neccesary to be a at least good striker. And Rasiak is at the moment pice of s...t.And it's hard to explain why managers still hope that he can play. I know that at the momment Mido is at ANC but surely there are better players than Rasiadinho in your team. And what can we say about our polish national team? Many better strikers but Rasiadlo is always in first 11. Ehhh, sorry guys...

Does anyone know why Ziegler got loaned out? It seemed weird to me because he was obviously one of our best players. I liked Edman too though he did give away the odd penalty. I hope Leicester was a one-off; our midfield played badly and we couldn't win the ball in the second half. When we did get it Robbo kept hoofing it straight back to Leicester for some unknown reason. I'd give Kelly another chance, it wasn't an easy game to come back in to the team , out of position as well. Gardner sadly isn't going to make it, he has had enough chances. Handy as cover though; we don't know if Huddlestone is really any good yet. Rasiak will never start again I imagine. Lennon is fantastic but we will never be able to keep him; one of the big boys will snaffle him. He is wasted on us anyway as we haven't got a player to get on his crosses.
Probably we should sell Defoe too before he becomes another Rebrov , and buy a good centre-forward (if you can find one.)
I think we still have a chance to end up 6th if we can keep the key players fit (King, Keane, Mido, Robbo, Davids, Dawson, Carrick, Lennon) and that would be our best Premiership finish ever.

Big Tone screwed up everything he did against Man City by having a 'mare. He nearly made Daws look shite and we all know what a quality player he is.

On the plus side, Aaron Lennon may be the most exciting Spurs player since Gazza. I've not seen a defender get near him yet this season.

We can let Rasiak, Mendes, Pamarot and Dais go. Ribery looks the bollox, he'd be a good signing and obviously if we got Waldcott all my wet dreams would come true....

Another defeat and it's "Get rid of him","He shit","He should be shot"

Can't believe it......actually i can.

I feel we are being a bit harsh to say the least.

Sure, a bad result but maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
Europe is a must, and hopefully Champions League. I'm sure that will more than make up for it!!

But it was a bad TEAM performance (bar Lennon, 1st half anyway)

Still not convinced with Stalteri, looks like an action man but cracking goal.
Can't believe the Kelly knockers, anyone remember last season, miles better than pamarot anyway?

Gardner has never been 'good enough' but feel he is getting too much of the blame, sure MJ will look to strenghten there.

Brown is and always has been at best a squad player, seems to be happy biding his time, mr 100%, keep him.

Rasiak will hopefully be but merely a memory soon enough

And what's happened to Routledge, why isn't he playing now he isn't injured?

Shame Huddlestone is not involved in the squad yet, was looking forward to him more than anything else pre-season (until the arrival of Davids)

Can't understand why we sold Edman (although as pointed out, prone to concede the odd penalty) if only to keep him for cover anyway.

A few good buys in the transfer window and it will be (i bet) "Awesone, we're gonna win the league" etc, etc....
....WALOB...indeed

Take a trip down memory lane to, say...3 years ago....and look at us now. Massive improvements but still nowhere near the finished article. Give it time.

Positives:

We have a good squad. A mainly young squad with some exerience, several internationals and greatly British based. The best we've had for many a year.
Our board seem to know what they're doing and don't hide the cheque book either. We are also finacially stable and are able to compete in the transfer market.
We have a affable manager with good knowledge, vision and beliefs, who seems to be going in the right direction.

We have some of the best fans in the country, travel as good anyone else if not better, sell out all our away game allocations and at least we make lots of noise at home games too (unlike the Library). Only beaten by Chelsea at home all of 2005 says something. Keep it up

Ledley - captain, rock, Mr.Spurs
Robbo - £1.5m !! steal !
Dawson - worth the £8m alone
Carrick/Jenas - potential is there for all to see
Tainio - where did he come from, & a FREE!!

3 fab stikers

Youngsters like Ifil, Davenport, Kelly, Huddlestone, Ziegler, Marney, Routledge, Barnard...

......and finally AARON LENNON !!!

Yeh I must admit I figured Routledge would be more involved now he's fit. Maybe he's been out of line recently after being brought on, then subbed the other week?
Definitely want to see more of Huddlestone, as he could be the ideal deputy for Davids - as no-one else was prepared to 'sit back' and protect the back line the other night.

Kelly is definitely much better than he showed Sunday. He just needs a slap.

And again, get ZIEGLER BACK... with him we'd have him, Routledge, Lennon and Reid - with other players more than able in wide positions. More wingers needed? Erm, no!
I believe Keane and Defoe CAN play together if given a run of more than 1 game!! Both of them are capable of not only heading the ball, but holding it up if needed... besides, if the QUALITY crosses come in, you don't NEED to be 6ft tall to meet them. David Platt wasn't a big fella, but got ahead of his man... which lets face it, Defoe and Keane do ALL THE TIME...give them a bloody chance! Play 2 wingers...take some chances!
With a settling in period, those 2 could be playing one-two's around everyone for fun... Anyone agree with me?

It is remarkable, Kelly complains all season about his lack of playing time. When the opportunity comes along what does he do? Play like shit! Get you head in the game and show some self-worth.

I do put it down to the fact that in the cups matches the regulars get rest, but those who come in play so poorly.

Another issue was the substitution pattern. With Routledge on the bench wouldn't it have better sense to bring him on for Brown instead of Defoe?

Defoe is driving many people nuts. We've all knew he is a selfish player, but it is more pronounced now. Always thinking of himself and what the camera caught, telling teammates to f-off. To be honest he needs a good slap. There is a reason why he has been dropped in favour of Keane. Instead of being a professional and playing his way back into the team like Robbie did he mopps.

The gratifying thing is we know Gardener is a back-up. I'm hoping we play alot better against Liverpool or our arses will be handed back to us.

Ah come on - where did you get your facts from? Have you been down to the training grounds? It's quite visible Kelly works incredibly hard and well in training, he was unlucky on Sunday form lack of league games. Please, Keane is the biggest moaner on the pitch - handbags at dawn!

I think Keano's been our best player in recent weeks.

Players of the Season so far:

1. King or Robbo
2.
3. Dawson
4. Lennon
5. Davids
6. Keane or Mido

Lennon would be higher if he'd played more full games.

Mido has scored most goals but still goes missing, and whinges too much for my liking, esp as he's 6'2 and 13+ stone.

Remember Yid's, it's all about opinions.

Ha Ha Ha

Arsenal lost ! W*nkers

Interesting stat:

Keane's been by far our best striker this season.

Current stats: (league only)

.......Gms..Gls
Mido....19...9
Keane...19...7
Defoe...13...5

But taking a look at the actual minutes they have all played reads something different:

Mido....1519
Keane....927
Defoe...1166

=
.......Gms..Gls
Mido....17...9....53%
Keane...10...7....68%
Defoe...13...5....39%

Statto I KNOW

Keane has trained hard, not really moaned (1 tantrum at, I think Birmingham last year) is playing well & rightly forced his way back into the 1st team after impressing in recent weeks. Defoe could learn a thing?

Anyone else think Keane is more important than Defoe? at the moment.

Before you start knocking, I am a big Defoe fan and think he has the potential to be a Tottenham Great, but the lad hasn't really come on as expected as has not been that great ALL year.

I certainly rate Defoe higher than Keane in terms of finishing and talents, but Keane does put in more effort than Defoe.

I think some of you guys are a tad too harsh on Kelly. He's not as poor as his display at Leicester suggested. Though he did badly, we must remember that he has been playing reserve football for most of this season. I'm sure he will be better given another chance. However, he's not a left-footer so Wayne Bridge would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Gardner is sh*t. Yes, he kept a few clean sheets at the start of the season and a couple of recent games but come'on. He's nothing but a poor man's (i.e Charlton & Pompey) King. Sell him and give Hudderstone a chance. Pamarot would be a reasonable backup for King in the middle too.

Brown is very commited and gives 100% in every match, but Sunday's game showed us that effort is nothing without skills. Against a Championship side, he was chasing shadows. Imagine it's against the gooners or Man USA, not to mention Chelski. Brown playing on the left makes Reid looks like Ginola!!The only reason that we should keep him is that he's happy to be on the bench. However, if we get Ziegler and hudderstone back, we would have the ample cover for LW & CM.

Carrick & Jenas did okay, and together with Davids, our central mid is strong.

Lennon did wonders again and with Routlege in the side, they can terrorize any left backs in the game as long as they stay fit.

That left me with our Big striker. Okay, so Jol prefers the Big Small partnership. The big guy holds, lays and knocks down the ball for the smaller ones. Sounds like a decent tactic, but only if you have the man to do so. Mido did well for us this season and I'm sure all Spurs' fans are waiting to sign him on a permanent basis. We will be missing him for a few games and I'm indeed very disturbed by it. Rasiak is "big" no doubt, but I couldn't recall if he actually won a single header against leicester! He was kept as tame as a pussy, and a pussy that can't jump for god's sake. Eager to show us he's actually a decent striker, he tried a couple of Ronaldo (Madrids's not Man USA's) dribble, only to discover it's harder to get past defenders than stationary training cones!!!!

So in conclusion, we need a LB, LW & a Big one up front. If we can address these areas in this transfer window, we will be still in top 4 at the end of season. COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

Huddleston's a midfield holding player.

If you're talented with good technique, you're never JUST a holding player. Huddlestone can play anywhere in defence or midfield if needed, as he is also 2 footed - as described on the spurs.co.uk, from the spurs coaching staff...

Sell Davis and Mendes.

BRING BACK ZIEGLER NOW.

AND

Promote Barnard to the first team and give him a chance as he scored 17 goals in 17 games for reserves last season, and is still banging them in.

Net result - we retain a left winger who can also play left back, give a fairly tall, prolific striker from the reserves a chance, AND offload a couple of want-away midfielders.
Wage bill lightened ready for summer, and squad strengthened without spending a penny.
