Fifth here we come!

And the dark horse has suddenly made his move as we approach the final few furlongs. We can see fifth place heading our way as the northern cloggers from Bolton seem to be collapsing allowing The Eel Munchers to smash them today while Reading lost to Watford somehow. At home. Portsmouth collpased to a 3-0 defeat to Everton leaving The Toffees with our only real competiton for fifth place. If we win two out of the last three Everton will need a win at Chelsea to finish fifth. Charlton will be a tough game so the way I see it now the key fixture is beating Blackburn on Thursday. Of course I want to win all three of the last games and finish fifth strongly putting to bed any of these daft Jol Out people like Park Len (where are you?) once and for all. If we do take fifth with three wins we shall finsih on 62 points only three points off our last season total having made the semi's of the league cup, and the quarter finals of the FA cup and the UEFA cup making a British record of 8 straight Euro wins as well. Considering we sold Carrick and brought in a fair few players it makes good reading. All, of course, if we do the job and finish off the last three fixtures with 9 points!

10 league games ago we sat in 10th place and now we sit 9th. However, 10 games ago we were 11 points off fifth place. Tonight we are four. With two games in hand. That is remarkable ground to make up and credit has to go to the players. They need to finsih the job starting on Monday.

COYS!

Yeah, well said! I'm glad we're in the position to grap european football again. With the changes in the team and three cup runs Jol has done his job quite well, if we win at least two out of the three games. Although I felt we had the strenght to win the league-cup, I will be the last to call for Jols head. Jol has to bring in some composure in the defense and a real left winger aswell so we can bring in a couple of cups next year!!

It is good to have our full regular team(apart from Lee)in action. My only concern is that three games in six days will be a strain..However the team have had over a week off to prepare for this ordeal.Nine points would be nice but six or seven should do.

rocha's looked pretty useful at leftback, much more than in the middle anyway! so it doesn't really bother me that lee is out for a bit..

That's right big mouth shout your big gob off. Pride comes before a fall. Nine points out of nine? Don't make me laugh! You'll just about scrape into Europe & with the goal difference you've got you'll really set it on fire. My butt

Well 5th would be great but the problem is that all the big boys will be raiding our players again this summer and we will have to start all over again like this season when the loss of Carrick took us half the season to get over. They are already talking about Defoe and Chimbonda going(best player this season in my book)and if Man U come in with a 20 mill bid for Berba then are we going to turn it down? Especially as they will pay him twice as much and he will win some medals. At the end of the day the owners want to make a profit. Hope it doesn't happen but I wouldn't bet against it.

5th, 6th 7th or 15th, what does it matter? Another season of winning nothing, zilch, nada, being dressed -up as a great success story by the Jol acolytes...oh, and increased prices for next season justified by this success.
And what is worse, another season of the Fat-one to look forward to, no doubt with some of the old favourite quotes like "Well, if only we had kept a clean sheet we wouldn't have lot 3-0" and other gems.
Why can't Real Madrid see how great Jol is and steal him away...pleeeeeaaaasssssse!

As for Defoe... will we really miss him that much? I mean, I love offsides calls as much as the next guy... I'll admit I was nervous about Berbatov at first, but now that we've all seen him adapt and play at full speed, if we lose Defoe to keep Berbatov around, I won't be too sad.
Chimbonda is a wonder, I agree. Hopefully, we can keep the right guys and strengthen up our defense...
