Defoe agrees to go
It looks like Jermaine Defoe has realised that he unfortunately has no future at Spurs after we accepted a bid of around £10 million earlier today from Portsmouth. Reliable sources on FTL thought he would stay earlier today but he knows he will be the main man at Portsmouth, something he won't be at Spurs.
Our immediate problem is being left with only two fit strikers and Bent has hardly been setting the world on fire. In fact Bent has been abysmal and if Berbs or Keane get injured we could find it difficult.
Good luck Jermaine
COYS!

Yeah good luck to him he deserves to be playing first team football.
But im completely gutted he is leaving i think he is a great footballer and a great person.
With Bent not alwaus fit.... who will will turn to now???
And once again no LM player.
Fingers X'd he fails the medical and we keep Jermaine Defoe he's OUR Yido!!!!!!

a bit harsh saying Bent has been abysmal as he has been injured for most of the season.

Constantly offside, misses sitters and doesnt link up with our other strikers. Youve got a bargain Pompey.

why do people love Defoe? He has underperformed for two years, and his constant "I love Spurs" comments have been merely a smokescreen for the fact that he is running down his contract and does not want to be accused of doing a Sol.

you are all wrong!!!
Its Jermain

"I want to play for Tottenham, that's it really. I am going nowhere - Sol Campbell January 1, 2001.
"I love Spurs - blah blah blah" Jermaine Defoe for the past 6 months
Did either of them sign a new contract for Spurs?
Don't make me laugh - JD didn't ask for a move, will get a cut of the fee - nice little earner. Let's not be niaive about the " I love it here" bollocks

space for pekhart now
8:50 PM, January 31, 2008
No! Why cant they take Bent instead

Defoe will score a ton at Pompey if he's starting week in week out, just like he did for Spurs a few seasons ago, before Berbatov turned up, who of course will be leaving next season. Who are these muppet Spurs fans with short memories?
9:07 PM, January 31, 2008
Big mistake to let him go, he is a brilliant striker to have in the squad.Soon all the haters will see how good he is
9:13 PM, January 31, 2008
Not happy with him leaving, but I suppose it's best for the man himself.
"Jermain Defoe - He's a yiddo!!!"
9:26 PM, January 31, 2008
Yeah, this is bullshit. When Berbatov fucks off next season we'll have to try and replace him with someone who can score in the Prem and I bet a million pounds that Defoe will be knocking in hatfulls at Portsmouth

Should've gone 2 seasons ago.
Astonished at how highly rated he is and for how long.
He has a sweet shot on him but nothing else to offer a team whatsoever.
I'd rather have a front man help make 30 goals than score 18 himself, probably at 30 attempts.
Always off side, selfish, lightweight and lacking a footballing brain.
Good riddance!

we have loads of overpaid underperformers wanting to move to a 'big club' (step forward pisscal and berba) And we are getting rid of the only 1 who says he wants to stay! another great spurs fuck up! Give him a chance, I want players who actually WANT to play for us instead of use us as a stepping stone! It dont take a genius to figure out that berba wants to leave, it's not all bollocks and look how he's playing again, shite and sulking like a kid!! stick with JD Keano and Bent, Defoe will be awesome given a chance, we will regret this, he will show exactly how shit hot he is!
Berba you need to step up and earn your spurs again!
Come on you spurs!
9:43 PM, January 31, 2008
all you defoe lovers and board criticisers - if you loved a club and wanted to stay, why wouldnt you sign a contract (unless your agent was called sky andrew)
9:53 PM, January 31, 2008
When Jermain Defoe strikes the ball it always looks great, unfortunately it either goes straight at the keeper or hits the woodwork.
18 goals out 0f 30 shots, if only....
10:00 PM, January 31, 2008
he sacked Sky Andrew last month - FACT! Why would you sign a new deal if you are gonna sit on the bench? cant blame the fella - he deserves a chance. Waiting to see if he was going to play under juande. He's too good to sit on the bench! we are dumb to sell him!
Shot ourselves in the foot AGAIN
10:05 PM, January 31, 2008
1005 would you seriously choose defoe ahead of either berb or keane - esp since he has never played successfully alongside either of them
10:09 PM, January 31, 2008
I cannot believe this " he wants to stay"!
If he REALLY wanted to stay at Spurs he would have signed a new contract, like JJ, Keano, Ledders- wakeup! He was waiting for " the big club" Bosman move. Have some faith in Ramos - the sh*te is being moved out
10:45 PM, January 31, 2008
Gutted, absolutely GUTTED
Good Luck JD, all the best.
